This Diploma of Community Services prepares you to support people experiencing disadvantage and to develop and implement community-based programs. You’ll build practical skills for work in government-funded, not-for-profit and charitable organisations, with a focus on understanding social issues and strengthening communities. The course includes a 100-hour practical placement and develops leadership capability to supervise staff or volunteers in community services. The programme introduces counselling basics, community support skills, and behavioural science fundamentals.

Career paths include community services worker, community welfare worker, family support worker, outreach officer, accommodation support worker, domestic violence worker, youth worker, care and protection worker, case manager, migrant/refugee officer and community care manager. This Diploma supports entry-level to developing leadership roles in community services. Preparing graduates for community support, welfare assistant, and care coordination roles, or degree articulation.
