This diploma builds hands-on skills for conservation and ecosystem management, including surveying flora and fauna, monitoring waterways, restoring natural sites and undertaking cultural studies related to land management. Learning is practical and field-based, with excursions to diverse ecosystems from coastal areas to Federation University’s arid Nanya research station. It is a vocational Diploma in Environmental Science. The programme introduces business operations, customer service, and administrative leadership for commercial workplaces.

Graduates can pursue practical roles supporting conservation and land management across parks, waterways and natural areas. Career pathways include wildlife and parks field officer, field operator, vertebrate pest officer and weeds operator, with work in ecosystem restoration, rehabilitation and renewal, conservation works, parks management or administration, wildlife management, marine/coastal management and water and catchment management. It is a Diploma in Environmental Science. Preparing graduates for supervisory, administration, and business support roles, or degree articulation.
Entry requirements
For all TAFE applications, pre-training review questions and a literacy and numeracy review are part of the application process.
