This entry-level qualification develops the practical skills and underpinning knowledge to start work in upholstery, with an option to specialise in production upholstery. You’ll learn to select and cut fabrics and leather, machine sew and fit materials, create loose covers, and dismantle and reassemble furniture, supported by hands-on guidance from experienced trainers. It is a Certificate III trade pathway in upholstery. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.

Graduates are prepared for work in furniture and furnishing workshops and manufacturing settings, applying upholstery techniques to repair, refurbish or produce upholstered items. Typical roles include upholsterer and production upholsterer, with transferable skills relevant to other trade and workshop-based industries where measuring, cutting, sewing and assembly skills are valued. This is a Certificate III pathway into upholstery work. Preparing graduates for engineering technician, draftsperson, and technical service roles, or degree articulation.
