This apprenticeship qualification develops practical skills for installing, testing, fault-finding and maintaining instrumentation and process control systems used in industrial environments. You’ll train with industry-standard equipment such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and learn to measure and regulate variables including temperature, pressure and flow. Delivery includes simulated and workplace settings, supporting progression into technical roles and further study in instrumentation and control at Certificate III level.

Graduates can pursue entry-level trade and technician roles supporting industrial instrumentation and control systems. Typical jobs include electronic instrument trades worker (general), electrical instrumentation tradesperson, electrical instrumentation technician, and instrumentation and control technician. Work may be found across process industries where equipment is installed, tested and maintained, including sites using PLCs, sensors and control systems.
