关于课程
This graduate certificate focuses on understanding fire in the Australian landscape and how population growth and climate change are reshaping bushfire risk to people, biodiversity and the built environment. Developed with input from government and fire authorities, it supports specialisation in either planning/regulation for development in bushfire-prone areas or in fire management for environmental and natural resource contexts. Delivery includes teaching from Parkville plus immersive residential components at Creswick and site visits to fire laboratories and field study locations around Melbourne.
你可能学到什么
Students develop applied knowledge of bushfire behaviour in landscapes and the principles used to assess and manage bushfire risk. The course builds practical capability in either bushfire planning and regulation or operational/fire management approaches, informed by real-world case studies and industry engagement. It also supports professional networking and, via the Bushfire Planning stream, preparation for BPAD accreditation eligibility pathways.
职业成果
Graduates can pursue roles where bushfire risk needs to be assessed, planned for and managed across semi-urban and rural environments. Pathways include bushfire planning and development regulation support (e.g., planning and design for bushfire-prone areas) and fire/environmental management roles in land management agencies. The program is also relevant for aspiring or existing specialist bushfire consultants and professionals working with government and fire authorities.
