The Graduate Certificate in Aboriginal Health in Rural Communities explores health in a holistic way, integrating Aboriginal and Western perspectives on health and wellbeing in Aboriginal community contexts. It examines how historical events, social and cultural processes, and power dynamics influence health experiences and outcomes for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australians. The course includes a practical, community-based project in an Aboriginal health setting and is delivered through a blend of online learning and in-person intensives.

Graduates may progress in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and community development roles, applying strengthened capability in community projects, service contexts and health promotion initiatives. The program supports career pathways across Aboriginal health services and related organisations, including roles such as Aboriginal health worker, community development practitioner, health service manager, consumer advocate, or policy and program contributor. It also provides a pathway into further public health study with advanced standing towards the Master of Public Health.
