The program provides a rigorous pathway for students aiming for analytical, policy, or research-focused careers.
你可能学到什么
You will deepen your understanding of core economic theory and develop the ability to design and conduct independent economics research. The program builds advanced skills in microeconomics and macroeconomics, strengthens quantitative and econometric capabilities through higher-level electives, and develops academic writing and research project management through the honours essay. Graduates are prepared to interpret evidence critically, model economic problems, and communicate findings to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
职业成果
Graduates typically pursue roles requiring strong economic analysis and research skills across government, central banks and policy agencies, consulting, and industry analytics. The honours year also provides preparation for further postgraduate study, including research higher degrees. Typical pathways include economist and policy analyst roles, research assistant/associate positions, and analytical roles in finance and regulatory environments where advanced modelling, econometrics, and evidence-based decision-making are valued.
Entry requirements
Applicants must meet ANU admission and English language requirements and satisfy program-specific criteria. Entry is competitive and also depends on supervisory capacity and delegated approval. Eligibility requires an AQF Level 7 Bachelor degree (completed within the last two years) in a cognate discipline/approved major, submission of required materials including a research proposal and supervision evidence, and a minimum 70% average as specified across designated coursework; an interview may be required.
