This doctoral research degree develops your ability to generate original knowledge through advanced investigation in public health. You’ll work primarily on an in-depth thesis under supervision, with any coursework kept secondary to research. The program emphasises applying theory and concepts to practical solutions for real-world health problems, supported by access to faculty resources and opportunities to engage with local and international research networks. This is a PhD by research in Health Sciences (Public Health).

You’ll develop expert theoretical understanding and critically reflect on knowledge and practice. You’ll learn to evaluate existing ideas, undertake systematic investigation, and generate original contributions to the field. The course builds advanced skills to critique methodologies and conclusions, communicate complex research to specialist and public audiences, and design, implement and analyse research suitable for external examination against international standards in public health research.
