Curtin’s National Drug Research Institute PhD is a higher degree by research for candidates interested in alcohol and other drug research. You’ll undertake independent research with expert supervision, exploring topics such as drug and alcohol policy, cannabis regulation, addiction, overdose prevention, FASD and pregnancy, justice health, and impacts on young people and Aboriginal communities. This is a PhD / Doctoral research program in Health Sciences. The programme advances health sciences research through evidence-based inquiry, clinical context, and supervised thesis development.

Graduates are prepared for research and policy careers in alcohol and other drug fields, including academia, government and health agencies, NGOs and community organisations. Potential pathways include research fellow or analyst roles, public health and policy advisory positions, program evaluation and evidence translation, and specialist work in prevention, treatment and harm reduction. This is a PhD / Doctoral qualification focused on Health Sciences research. Preparing graduates for health research, clinical leadership, and doctoral study in nursing and health sciences.
