The Specialist Certificate in Registered Nurse Prescribing is an NMBA-approved program that leads to endorsement as a designated registered nurse prescriber. The course comprises two units delivered by an experienced multidisciplinary team of nurses, pharmacologists and pharmacists, with workshops available on campus or via video streaming. On completion, graduates meet the education criteria for entry on the Australian Health Practitioner Register with an endorsement for scheduled medicines (designated registered nurse prescriber).

Students develop the knowledge and practical capability required to prescribe scheduled medicines within a designated registered nurse prescriber scope of practice. The program builds evidence-based clinical decision-making and safe, appropriate prescribing supported by teaching from nursing and medicines experts. It also prepares nurses to work to full scope of practice to improve access to care, particularly in priority community settings.
