The Specialist Certificate in Paediatric Nursing is designed to expand nurses’ scope of practice and build advanced competencies for providing high-quality care to sick paediatric patients and their families. It emphasises specialised knowledge aligned with current evidence and best-practice guidelines, supported by teaching from expert educators. The course is flexibly delivered online as a 25-credit point, part-time program over two terms, comprising two core online subjects.

Students develop specialised, evidence-informed knowledge and practical capability for contemporary paediatric nursing care across infants, children and young people. The course aims to strengthen clinical reasoning and application of best-practice guidelines to support safe, high-quality care for paediatric patients and their families. It also builds foundational specialty competencies for nurses transitioning into paediatric nursing practice.

Graduates are prepared to pursue opportunities in hospital settings dedicated to paediatric care, applying specialised skills to support children, young people and their families. The course supports progression into paediatric nursing roles in a range of clinical environments where evidence-based practice is required. Completion may also provide a pathway to further study with potential advanced standing toward the Graduate Certificate in Paediatric Nursing.
