This Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) is an initial teacher education program designed for applicants who already hold a relevant bachelor degree outside education and want to qualify as a teacher in two years. You can study online or on campus, full-time or part-time, with flexibility to switch between study modes. The course develops capability to plan and deliver engaging learning for diverse learners and contexts, with attention to environmental and cultural influences including Indigenous learners, and includes 80 days of professional experience in prior-to-school and primary school settings.

The course aims to prepare graduates to become effective early childhood and primary teachers who can design and deliver developmentally appropriate learning experiences across diverse settings. Students build knowledge of learners, communities, and culturally and linguistically diverse contexts, including Indigenous perspectives, and strengthen professional practice readiness through substantial supervised placements. It also supports graduates to meet expectations for strong personal literacy and numeracy consistent with initial teacher education standards.

Graduates can pursue teaching roles in early childhood education settings such as early learning centres, long day care, family day care and preschools. The qualification also supports employment in primary school settings and related services such as out of school hours care. Completing the program enables eligibility to apply for teacher registration in Australia (subject to meeting registration requirements).
