This two-year program provides an alternative pathway to becoming a professional psychologist without requiring an Honours degree. It combines coursework in psychological assessment, interventions and professional practice skills with a group research project in the first year. In the second year, students undertake structured training and supervised practical placement experience, with progression linked to meeting provisional registration requirements.

Graduates are prepared for roles in supervised professional psychology settings, applying assessment and intervention skills across community and clinical contexts. Potential employment areas include mental health and wellbeing services, counselling and behavioural interventions, health and rehabilitation, education and disability support, and government or non-government human services. The degree supports progression toward professional psychology practice pathways subject to registration requirements.

Applicants must have an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) including an APAC-accredited psychology sequence, with a minimum GPA of 5.00/7.00. Selection is competitive and requires two referee reports, a personal statement and CV, plus an interview/suitability assessment. Applicants must meet ANU English language requirements. Qualifications gained outside Australia require assessment by the Australian Psychological Society before applying.
