This Master of Information Science develops expertise for professional work as a librarian, archivist or records manager across public and academic libraries, archives, and government or corporate records environments. You’ll build skills to collect, organise, curate, preserve and provide access to information ethically, including digital collections, metadata and classification. The course includes two three-week practicums to gain workplace experience and networks in information science at master coursework level.

You’ll learn to apply theory and professional practices across information science, library science, archival science and records management. You’ll develop creative problem-solving for complex information challenges, use information technologies to communicate with diverse stakeholders, and practise ethically and culturally responsibly. The course also emphasises professional autonomy, collaboration and respect for diverse knowledges, including Indigenous perspectives, for master coursework preparation in information disciplines.
