This online Master of History (Advanced) draws on ANU’s strong research and teaching across Australian, Indigenous, environmental, biographical, ancient and modern histories. It is designed for advanced study, combining rigorous historiographical training with a substantial research thesis. The program is distinct from the face-to-face version but shares many courses, and allows you to tailor study to your interests, including applied and public history themes.
Những gì bạn có thể học
You will build advanced capabilities in historiography and historical research design, including how to interpret evidence, develop arguments and engage critically with scholarship. The degree develops research training through specialist seminars and a supervised thesis, with emphasis on how history is used in the present, memory and remembrance, and public/applied history. Students also strengthen writing and analytical skills for advanced academic and professional contexts.
Kết quả nghề nghiệp
Graduates are prepared for research-focused roles and further higher-degree study, as well as careers where advanced historical analysis is valued. Typical pathways include historian or research officer roles in universities, government and policy settings, archives and libraries, museums and cultural heritage organisations, and public history. The program also supports secondary educators seeking deeper disciplinary expertise aligned with curriculum areas, and roles in publishing, media and community organisations.
