The Master of Finance at ANU is a two-year program designed to prepare graduates for work in the global financial marketplace. It builds strong foundations in corporate finance, investments and financial markets, with an applied focus on valuing securities and firms, using derivatives for risk management, and constructing diversified portfolios. Students develop quantitative and analytical capability through core finance and statistics coursework.

Students develop practical finance skills across financial statement analysis, valuation, corporate finance, investments and derivatives. The program strengthens quantitative reasoning through statistics and modelling, and builds capability to analyse markets, price assets, manage risk and design investment portfolios. Later study extends into advanced corporate finance and investments, with options such as fintech, trading and international finance, and applied project or internship-style learning.

Graduates are suited to roles across banking, investment management and corporate finance in Australia and internationally. Typical pathways include financial or investment analyst, portfolio or risk analyst, corporate finance/valuation specialist, markets or trading-related roles, and finance positions in government agencies, consultancies and large corporates. The applied coursework and project components support careers requiring strong analytical, modelling and decision-making skills.

Applicants need either a recognised Bachelor degree (or equivalent) with minimum GPA 5.0/7.0, an ANU Graduate Certificate of Finance with minimum GPA 4.5/7.0, or at least 10 years full-time equivalent relevant work experience at ANZSCO Skill Level 1. Applicants must also meet ANU English language requirements. Admission is competitive and meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee entry.
