The First Nations Health Pathway Program is a free, culturally responsive enabling program for First Nations people (17+), designed as a supported pathway into university health study. Delivered in face-to-face intensive blocks in Darwin, it blends First Nations cultural knowledge and language with Western academic perspectives while building confidence and academic skills. Successful completion can support entry to CDU undergraduate health degrees with up to 30 credit points of advanced standing.

In this program you will explore First Nations ways of knowing, being and doing in health, and build awareness of contemporary First Nations health issues. You will develop academic literacies and standard English for university research, reading and writing, and learn to engage effectively in the university environment. The course also develops core health-study knowledge, communication, independent learning strategies, and use of technologies for learning and assessment tasks.

This pathway program prepares First Nations students to progress into CDU undergraduate health degrees and begin working toward careers across the health sector. It builds foundational academic and communication skills, confidence for university study, and understanding of culturally safe health practice and contemporary First Nations health issues. Graduates may use the credit and transition support to move into training for roles in nursing, allied health, community health and broader healthcare professions.
