The Diploma of Science provides an entry pathway to university study with a grounding in core scientific knowledge and academic skills. You can explore scientific investigation and the natural environment while sampling areas across science. On successful completion, you may gain entry and up to eight units of credit toward linked specialisations in Southern Cross University’s Bachelor of Science. This is a Diploma-level science pathway offered through SCU College. The programme develops laboratory safety, sample handling, and basic analytical techniques for technical roles.

Graduates may be suited to para-professional roles supporting scientific and environmental work. Potential opportunities include field assistant or technician support roles, laboratory assistant positions, veterinary assistant work, and environmental monitoring support roles, depending on units completed and local employer needs. The qualification also helps prepare for further study with credit into the Bachelor of Science, strengthening employability in science-related settings at Diploma level.
