This Advanced Diploma develops higher-level mechanical engineering skills for technical drafting, design and analysis. You’ll learn to apply engineering principles, systems and processes, with a focus on CAD, manufacturing and fabrication techniques, and producing mechanical equipment drawings and designs. The course is delivered on campus with access to CAD facilities and advanced manufacturing training environments in a mechanical engineering context. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.

Graduates may work across engineering and manufacturing sectors in technical drafting, design and maintenance-related roles. Typical opportunities include CAD and drafting for machines, process plants, air conditioning and shipbuilding, plus plant maintenance supervision and broader technical engineering functions. This Advanced Diploma supports progression into mechanical engineering paraprofessional roles such as associate engineer, detailed drafter or maintenance technician. Preparing graduates for engineering technician, draftsperson, and technical service roles, or degree articulation.
