Curtin’s Graduate Diploma in Education is an intensive one-year program for degree holders seeking a career change into teaching. You choose either the Primary or Secondary Education major and learn to apply research-informed teaching approaches, create inclusive learning environments and work collaboratively with school communities. The course includes three supervised professional experience placements to build classroom-ready skills for graduate-level teacher preparation in Education & Teaching.

You’ll learn to apply educational theory and research to improve learning outcomes for diverse learners, plan and deliver effective teaching in technology-enhanced settings, and create safe and ethical learning environments. The course also develops professional communication with colleagues, parents and carers, and collaborative practice to build sustainable school and community partnerships in Education & Teaching.

Graduates are prepared for entry into teaching roles aligned to their chosen major, supporting learning in primary or secondary school settings. The program builds capability in lesson planning, classroom management, inclusive practice and professional collaboration, strengthened through supervised school placements. Completion supports eligibility to seek provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia, leading to graduate teacher opportunities in Education & Teaching.
