This undergraduate certificate introduces architecture through the relationship between design, culture and everyday life. You’ll build foundational knowledge of building design and construction while learning to communicate architectural ideas using written work, models and multimedia. The course emphasises critical thinking, sustainability, technical skills and sociocultural understanding, and can provide a pathway with credit into Curtin’s Bachelor of Applied Science (Architectural Science).

You’ll learn to apply core architectural principles across different contexts, use critical and creative problem-solving to develop solutions, and use technology to communicate with clients, approvers and builders. The course also introduces global perspectives and standards in architecture and develops respect for Indigenous values, cultures and knowledges when considering architectural decisions and perspectives.

Graduates gain entry-level, paraprofessional capability to support architectural and built-environment work, with skills in design thinking, construction fundamentals and communicating concepts through reports and visual media. The course can also be used as a pathway into further study, including Curtin’s Bachelor of Applied Science (Architectural Science), helping you progress toward professional roles across architecture and related building and design industries. Preparing graduates for graduate engineer, project support, and technical design roles across engineering sectors.
