This intermediate-level Certificate IV builds skills for working in primary health care with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. You’ll learn to support culturally safe care as part of a multidisciplinary team, and to deliver services independently within organisational guidelines. The course is designed for work across urban, rural and remote settings, strengthening practical capability in Indigenous primary health care at Certificate IV level. The programme builds patient care fundamentals, clinical assistance skills, and health workplace practice.

Graduates may work in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander primary health care services, supporting individuals and communities across preventive care, health promotion and coordinated client support. Typical roles include Indigenous/Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health worker or primary health care worker within community-controlled organisations, clinics and multidisciplinary teams. Outcomes align with entry to intermediate roles in Health Sciences at Certificate IV level. Preparing graduates for nursing assistant, care worker, and clinical support roles, or degree articulation.
