The Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) at UNSW Sydney is a one-year full-time program designed to develop advanced research and analytical skills in the social sciences. You’ll undertake supervised research and produce a substantial thesis, building expertise in social inquiry, theory and evidence-based analysis. This honours year prepares you for postgraduate study and research-focused or policy-oriented roles in the social sciences. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.

Graduates may pursue roles involving social research, policy analysis and program evaluation across government, NGOs, community organisations and research agencies. The honours thesis and advanced methods training also provide a pathway to higher degree research (e.g., PhD) and careers in academia. This Bachelor Degree / Honours Degree supports professional work and further study in sociology and the wider social sciences.
