This honours year is designed for high-performing Bachelor of International Studies graduates who want to deepen expertise through advanced study. You will undertake an additional year combining coursework with a substantial, supervised research thesis, allowing you to investigate a chosen international studies topic in depth. The program builds independent research and academic writing capability within the Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities at honours level in international studies.

Graduates strengthen employability by demonstrating advanced research and project capability developed through an honours thesis and coursework. Skills include independent investigation, meeting deadlines, analysing complex issues, using resources effectively and producing clear, professional writing. These capabilities support pathways into research-focused roles, policy and analysis work, government and NGO sectors, international affairs-related organisations, or further postgraduate study in arts and humanities disciplines.
