This Chinese double degree major develops language proficiency and cultural competence for working in China-related roles in Australia or overseas. You’ll build skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing, alongside understanding Chinese culture and society. The major caters for beginners through to advanced and native speakers, and is studied within the Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts double degree in Languages and culture at bachelor level. The programme develops classroom practice, curriculum knowledge, and educational psychology for teaching professions.

Graduates can pursue China-focused roles across government, business and community sectors where bilingual communication and cultural knowledge are valued. Career paths may include research officer, foreign affairs and trade officer, interpreter/translator, tourism information officer or tour guide, welfare worker, and teaching English as a second language. Industries include global business, international relations, the public service and tourism, aligned to bachelor-level language study.
