This undergraduate major explores the origins of health inequities affecting Aboriginal communities and strategies to support more equitable health and wellbeing outcomes. You’ll examine Aboriginal health in social, cultural and policy contexts and consider approaches that strengthen community-led practice and systems change. It builds understanding useful for work across Aboriginal and government settings within health and related sectors at undergraduate level. The programme develops clinical skills, patient care fundamentals, and health sciences knowledge for registered practice pathways.

Graduates are prepared for opportunities related to Aboriginal health research, policy and program work, and roles supporting management and practice improvement in Aboriginal organisations and government contexts. The major also supports further study options, including honours or master’s pathways in areas such as Aboriginal health and population health, and can contribute to preparation for postgraduate professional health courses in the health sciences discipline. Preparing graduates for nursing, allied health, and community care professional registration and graduate roles.
