| | | | | Traditionally, students would have traveled overseas to study for an international qualification. Now, pursuing foreign degrees can be done in the home country through an array of collaborative arrangements with degree-awarding institutions. This segment of the international education market is referred to as transnational education (TNE). So why is TNE garnering more hype these days?
Budget
Cost to study and living overseas can be a bit overwhelming. TNE offers an alternative where you’ll be receiving the same quality education and recognition from an oversea university at a local rate.
Career-Ready
Most Malaysian students would have grown up under the traditional pedagogy, in which academic merit is based on grades and test scores. In the case of an international curriculum, students will not only be assessed by how well they fare in exams, but also by their participation in discussions and group projects. Through this approach, you will gain valuable soft skills, such as communication and teamwork, which will most definitely help you excel in any workplace.
Global Awareness
Academician becomes more culturally and globally aware as a result of interacting with staff at foreign outposts, and curricula is internationalised to help learners become ‘global citizens’ via articulation agreements. This also benefit students as it provides them an opportunity for inter-campus mobility that will enrich the student’s learning experience. Studying abroad help students grow to be more culturally aware and accepting of other cultures.
Less Worries about Culture Shock
Let’s face it, to some students, adapting to a new place and new culture takes a toll on them mentally and it could be a terrible distraction to their studies.
Dual Award - 1 Degree, 2 Certificates from 2 Universities
Selected universities with dual award programme enable students to obtain both university awards without the need to graduate abroad, such as Taylors’ University or HELP University. The qualification can be worth some bragging rights especially if the partner institution is well-recognised.

Here are some skill set students should equip themselves with, if they are keen to jump on the entrepreneurship bandwagon - from managing a company’s daily affairs to planning future expansions.
