About Australia

Australia has a remarkable reputation as one of the best places in the world to live. Australia is a unique and diverse country in every way – in culture, population, climate, geography, and history. Over the years, states such as Melbourne and Sydney have continuously been voted one of the world’s most livable cities, and other states in the country are on the top of the list of tourist destinations.

Australian culture is as broad and varied as the country’s landscape. Australia is multicultural and multiracial and this is reflected in the country’s food, lifestyle and cultural practices and experience. Just walk along the streets of its major cities and you will identify with the large range of shops and restaurants from India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and China. Australia has an important heritage from its indigenous people, which plays a defining role in the cultural landscape.

This diversity of influences creates a cultural environment in Australia that is lively, energetic, innovative, and outward looking. Its Australian emblem, the emu and kangaroo were selected based on the fact that these animals cannot move backwards, which is a strong reflection of the country as a whole.

Every season in Australia offers a different but always exciting array of activities including surfing, skiing, trekking, snowboarding and not forgetting, the wonderful array of wineries and national parks to explore. Australia also boasts an excellent track record of hosting international concerts [think Pink, Beyonce, Coldplay], major sporting events and cultural festivals.
