  • We’re named after Charles La Trobe, the first Superintendent of the Port Phillip District from 1839 to 1850, and the first lieutenant-Governor of the new colony of Victoria from 1851 to 1854
  • We opened in 1967 with 552 enrolled students
  • We were the third university to open in Victoria
  • In 2017 we celebrate our 50th anniversary
  • We offer 200+ courses including 89 undergraduate degrees and more than 120 postgraduate courses
  • Ranked in Australia’s top three for Maths and Computer Science in the 2015 CWTS Leiden Rankings
